Cold Weather Advice

Last year's Christmas period was one of the most brutal ever seen, with December temperatures reaching the second coldest temperatures since records began over 350 years ago.

Due to this, thousands of Customers experienced problems reporting that they had no water, and our customer contact centre had to deal with over 50,000 calls.

This year, we are looking at being more preventative, with the launch of our cold weather campaign http://www.yorkshirewater.com/wrapup which provides information on how customers can protect their homes this winter time, and also has other great tips from customers on how you can stay safe this winter.

The Stanza Stone Project - Ilkley Moor

As it is somewhat difficult for me as a new member to this group to expand on what they are seeking to accomplish I have added My link to their facebook pages.

They have found very few in favour of the Project. In fact very few people know about it. Another case of we'll get it going then ask, much like retrospective planning, in hope the rest of us will agree.

I put forward in a post to the Group instead of cluttering the Moor with another load of unwanted carvings there is an alternative. A unique place which everyone irrespective of their abilities could reach. Is on a regular bus route, has it's own carpark, and like the Moor is known world wide. Though there are still folk in the immediate who've never heard of it - DARWIN GARDEN MILLENNIUM GREEN

A point made in the original plans is that they be used whenever a time arose for carvings by local folk or otherwise to use. That time has now come. But will those who wish to carve on Ilkley Moor listen? It's upto you out there to voice an opinion on this. Ilkley Moor is a County and National Icon. Preserve it at ALL costs. Stand up and let's hear what you have to say......

Welcome To Walkers If They Dare....

On the 28th April 2011 I was walking along the pavement in Brook Street Ilkley and tripped over a flagstone near the zebra crossing. Over twelve months ago an elderly lady did the same and the incident reported to Bradford UDC. NOWT HAS BEEN DONE! Otherwise I would not be typing this missive nor be in acute pain from stretched tendons.

Ilkley so we are informed welcomes Walkers. I suggest they equip themselves with crash bags similar to those found in cars. To members of Parish and District Councils I say to you if the pavemants in Ilkley were covered by Health and Safety Regulations parts of the town would be closed by now. Why were perfectly good large paving stones replaced by un-stable mock stone blocks? Someone has the answer and I and the many folk who tumble would like to know.

Boyes Rule Ok!

Had a wander through the 'new' store. It made me think Ilkley was getting back to it's roots.
There's far too many costly shops which give a little for a lot. I wonder how many of you remember
the Ilkley of the fifties and sixties when there was a good cross section of traders. The town has
lost too much these past decades and gained all to little for those who live here, not visitors.
