Noticed a mention of this in the planning notices in the ilkley gazbag, but struggling to find the application details online, a link anyone? I think it's at Hopp's Barn.

At 2-0 I've given up on the football so Here you go, Nabbers.
It's under ref 10/02098/FUL - link below

Who's idea is this? Who's paying for it?

Who's "Amy"? As it's her name on the commemoration stone inset into the bridge. But it's not a bridge. All it is or will be, is a bit of decoration added to the end of a concrete culvert.
I think its rather sad that we, as a village, couldn't have come up with something more useful, more appropriate to remember someone by, than this.

Sorry, I don't know the background on this application but it looks like it's privately funded.I looked at the plans and thought it would tidy up the culvert where it comes out by the road.

As far as I am aware, the Parish Council has said there is no more room on the village green for memorial trees or benches.

Why not a proper bridge in Burley House Field - "Amy's Bridge" has a nice ring to it. (A practical addition to the amenities of the village that would get a lot of use).
I think it would be a more fitting memorial to someone who's no longer with us.

Amy is a girl who died tragically in a road accident a few years ago. It is being privately funded and is designed to tidy up that bit of the green.

Is nabbers using invisible ink or have I lost another thread somewhere?

I have a photograph of a monumental bridge structure at the end of Station Rd
but don't think it needed planning permission. There again it was over ninety years ago.

Sorry if i seem to hijack the thread with this,
Is there any room anywhere in Burley to put more memorial plaques /trees /benches?
what about the park area?
or the old graveyard behind the Salem church.

I think you'd have to get in touch with the Parish Council for that one. I think you'll find the land behind the Salem Church is still owned by the church, but not sure, could also still be consecrated ground

There are two possible places - Burley House Field (once the problems with it have been ironed out) in which case contact Burley Parish Council.
The other could be Sun Lane Nature Reserve - contact: Burley Village Wildlife Group - http://www.burley-in...l/wildlife.html

There's a possible third. The Scalebor Park estate to take the place of all those trees the developers dropped.
