I noticed a refrigeration companies van outside the store today (parked on double yellow lines). So, how is the refit going?

Refrigeration vans aside for a mo has anyone noted word in national papers about using shops of suitable size for a library section in smaller communities?

Surely you cannot be suggesting the co-op has library shelves. It is packed to the gills as it is. In any case even if the co-op moved to new premises we have a perfectly good library in Burley which I would like to stay thank you very much and suggestions which might cause its demise are not helpful.

I'm not suggesting anything. However...................

Then what was the point of your post?

Also, why is an Ilkley resident so intent on posting in relation to Burley as lots of your posts are? Would not you be better concentrating on Ilkley and leaving Burley issues to Burley folk?

I think we can be a bit more inclusive than that, don't you? Where do you draw the line? The end of your street?

The vast majority of posts are made in the Burley Forum so it's hardly surprising that most people post here.... Posts lead to posts!

Yeah spyglass - how come you are being so silly. The whole purpose of a forum is to have a discussion.

I do shudder to think of a library in the CO-OP, as they have no space at all. In fact, I would say this so-called refit is nothing more than a way of putting in more second hand shelves, with more crap produce, showing even more lack of respect for the villagers.

I went in the store the other day - its so bad in there you have to queue to get down the bread isle. Thats before you get to the queue to pay.

The shop is a disgrace. And the more people who say it (inside the village and outside) the more hope that the poxy store will do something about it.

I just wish that Costcutter or a supermarket would set up in direct competition. Move into the empty carpet shop.

As mine do spyglass.

As to why a resident from up river should post on the Burley site,
possibly because it's a site of quality, plus I prefer to go through the village
and not use the bypass. Also I used to live in Burley many years ago so do have
an interest in what does or doesn't go on. Question answered?

Can someone enlighten me regarding the logic of using this shop, when all anyone does is moan about it
Why do you go?
There is a perfectly adequate Costcutter next door, and they stock most things that the coop does or will try & get in whatever you need if they dont, apart from papers and magazines, so why not get some exercise and get walking up to the garage for the newspapers.
I did over two years ago & haven't been in that awful place since, vote with your feet.

I think we have discussed the Co-op to death. It is crap but those who use it will carry on. Those that do not like it have alternative options. Lets drop it. At least the place does provide a few jobs - although some dont deserve them - ooh dont get me started!

It may well be what the cat did in the crypt but I tend to think many on these forums forget they are on the World Wide Web and what happens in our various settlements can be read the world over, Holland comes to mind. Think on, it may not be upto everyone's expectations but it keeps some of your village folk in work. I'd hate to think idle posts could put them out of work.

I think you have to be loose with the word "work". And more importantly, by your logic - we should be grateful that there is a store there, no matter how bad it is.

Sorry i want better - I want a good well laid out, well stocked store. Where the staff notice when a queue is developing and stop talking (or sleeping in the back room) and man the tills.

A bit of daylight would be good too, instead of the blacked out windows.

I would hope that these idle posts would prompt senior mangement of the CO-OP to get off there backsides and come up to the store. Maybe then they can see how bad it is

I was brought up with the words I want never gets ringing in my ears.

Might it be suggested you would prefer a better store but beggars often can't be choosers.

Maybe the proposed new store will offer a better service for Burley's more exclusive shoppers.
