Quick question: how may of you use Twitter and/or Facebook and would follow this forum via one of those methods?

Please feel free to add comments and questions as well as voting.

Please note that the wording of the poll has changed to avoid confusion. We are considering a Twitter and Facebook page to compliment this forum. The forum will remain in place. :)

I have never been able to get my head around Facebook and Twitter but that might be me being an IT dimbo. If others want to use it and access that way OK but please can the rest of us continue to access this Forum in the traditional way. I would not want to have to have either a Facebook or Twiter account just to access. I did open a Facebook account for Save Our Stones thinking it might help spread the word but I closed it because I got pestered by people wanting to be "friends" who had no connection with me, Burley or The Stones. Maybe I didn't use it properly but I just gave up on it.

Dont worry, there are no plans for any changes of that nature. We are just bouncing some ideas around having a presence on Twitter and Facebook. Access to this site will remain unaffected. :)

OK, well so far, so good. The test Twitter and FaceBook pages appear to work.

If anyone would like to help us test the Twitter account please PM me and I will provide the link. I don’t want to publish it to widely at the moment as I am still working on it, but your comments would be most welcome.

I'm with you on this one.

Please don't make the mistake of other forums and fill your pages with stuff many of us just don't understand. This is an excellant Forum. Easy to access, easy to read, uncomplicated, if it ain't broke.......you know what I mean.

Just to reassure you, nothing will change.

We are just playing around with feeding some of the information posted here out to other places such as Twitter and Facebook. If you don’t use Twitter or Facebook then you wont notice any difference other than (hopefully) a few more visitors and therefore more debate.

To back up my point, the Twitter and Facebook accounts have been in place for 24 hours and nothing has changed here. :)

Those who do use Twitter will (if it works out) be able to ‘follow’ new topis and other information from here and else where via their Twitter accounts.

So don’t worry. :)

Thats cool – and perfect timing!!!! In theory the new version of firmware should be arriving at 6pm today – http://www.apple.com...oftware-update/ keep checking your iTunes account.... I am so excited its almost illegal!!!!!!!! ;)

The best bit appears to be HDR camera – go take a look!!! There is a cool app for the forum @ http://itunes.apple....d372597645?mt=8 as well as the usual twitter stuff.

Don’t even get me started about how good the screen on the iPhone 4 is!!!!!

Yep, the new software was published at 6pm :) (and they said RSS syndication was a waste of time!! ;) )

Plug your new phone into your computer and click ‘check for update’ and you should be able to get it right away!!!

Oh, and yes, I know this has nothing to do with the original thread........ Blame Biker King... he made me do it!!! :ugeek:

Thanks for the tip - downloading as I type! Interestingly it's still not available to down load from main Apple site - you have to go through iTunes web site.

Yes screen is quite something _ I looked at a Desire and Galaxy before plumbing for iPhone 4, I think it has been a good choice, though using an Apply Mac I now have to upgrade my OS to Snow Leopard as Tiger won't run iTunes V10!!! Luckily I have a PC as well!!

Anyway I better stop now as I'll get in trouble for GOING OFF TOPICPosted Image

None of the updates are available direct from Apple.com – they all have to be downloaded through iTunes.

Desire? Galaxy? Sounds like a car or people carrier!! lol!!

Seriously, the iPhone 4 is very, very nice!!!! Shame about the cellular coverage in the area... what we need is some one to map out all the free wifi spots and publish then on google maps... http://www.wharfedal...ndpost__p__3527 ;)

Enjoy!!!!! :D

I follow twitter and facebook on my normal phone, not bothered with an iphone.....

anyways will go look for the facebook account now and if you send me the link for twitter will look on that too, though only use twitter on the odd occasion. But Im sure you might get more people following on FB etc, be nice to have a few more people around here.

Umm you better send me the link to the facebook group too as I cannot find it.

Hi, the twitter account is http://twitter.com/wharfedaleforum (note there is no s at the end).

If Twitter is useful then we will take a look at Facebook.

Twitter is a work in progress, and I haven’t decided on how we choose who to follow, if indeed we follow anyone, so there is still work to do. As an example, I have been trying to follow a site that Tweets when the International space station can been see over the area but it was visible last night and we didn’t get the Tweet :(

At the moment we are Tweeting any new topics in the forum, blog, calendar etc, and also the weather. Any suggestions for additional tweets would be warmly welcomed.

If your going to follow anyone then maybe follow subjects/people that are relevant to the local area etc? Have now added the site onto twitter. I use facebook more than twitter though and the majority of people I know use facebook daily rather than twitter.

What about adding things that are happening in the region, like events/shows etc or interesting articles from the paper and giving links to appropriate sites etc?

You can now get updates as to when the International Space Station will be visible from this area via the Twitter feed thanks to the folk at twisst.nl after being featured on BBC News 24 Click. :)
