I tried to buy a pint of milk tonight, tried Costcutter - none; the Co-Op haven't had any milk deliveries because the fridges don't work (even after the re-fit!?); tried the Total garage - none there either.

So who's hoarding the milk then?  Is it being rationed or are too many people bathing in it?  Should I write to my MP?

I might have to consider getting my own Holstein if this happens again.   Not sure where I'd park her though - corner of Prospect Road & Rose Bank springs to mind or Station Road or my back garden.  I wonder if the neighbours would mind.......

Keep some longlife in the cupboard, saves worrying where to park the cow, cuts down on the hay and it works in the bath just as well.

We very rarely have that problem as we have a very reliable milkman delivers to our door 4 days per week & we only go down to the Co-op or Costcutters when we need extra supplies, when our delivery comes to the door we know that it is fresh milk & not something that has been on the shelf or traveling for several days.

It costs slightly more but it's worth it.

Longlife milk is disgusting stuff.

I cancelled milk deliveries because of very early shifts, I was leaving home before it arrived.  So it sat on the doorstep all day long.

I'd check with your milkman about how fresh their milk is.

I like the idea of keeping a cow.  Taking her for walks to seek out new pastures.  The problem might be that I'd need an industrial sized pooper scooper or just a large bucket & a shovel.
She would have to have a name - Daisy is a bit old hat.  Anybody any suggestions?

I agree, but ordinary milk feezes so keep a pint for emergencies, it defrosts in seconds in the microwave.

However if you insist on a cow how about Ermitrude for a name, but please don't park her on double yellows, near the station or prospect road or the forum will explode with indignation.

I've only known them run out a few times.

I wont labour the CO-OP fridges, or the refit (what refit).

I know the greengrocer sometimes has some milk for sale. I think keeping a cow would be brilliant. Could call it PAT.

I like the idea of a pint in the freezer - will definitely try that.

Ermintrude ................... The Magic Roundabout!!  What a great programme.
http://en.wikipedia....agic_Roundabout - Ermintrude was rather matronly and fond of singing.  A singing cow - that would entertain the neighbours!

As for parking her - perhaps if I paint two yellow lines down her back, she'd just blend into the background.  No one would ever see her...........

I use soya for most of the time and keep a can of dried in for folk who prefer coffee.
It makes great Yorkshire Puds too.

However when it comes to why there's no milk perhaps the answer lies above the soil. Milk quotas are not what they should be in UK when compaired to the rest of the EU.

Hear, Hear, the milk delivery people are fantastic, they deliver about 2-3am, so it's always fresh, they offer a superb service and deserve support rather than folk buying dreadful supermarket stuff to save the odd copper.

Well done, milkies!!

Oh Wharfedale, you are such a bore.  Yes we are discussing milk.

You don't like milk.  How about cows?  I suppose you don't like cows either.

I'm proposing to get one, so that I'll never run out of milk again.

Next you'll be saying that you don't like "Ermintrude" as a  name for my cow!

Milk man milk is usually pretty old by the time it reaches you. A quick turn over of milk supplies at the coop means it's fresher.

Nobody ever mentions Costcutters on this forum, what's our opinion on them?

I think they have, but whatever, I use the shop almost every day. Service is top drawer and friendly, if you need something regularly they will get it in for you if it is not their usual stock. They also do a delivery service.

I'll second that whole heartedly, many's the time I have asked if they keep an item & they have said large or small & got it for me from the shelves.

First class! Costcutters.
