Coming home from work today, I walked along Main Street to the chemist about 15:30.

I noticed six lads skateboarding, on the flat pavement outside Snooti & Gouti. at the corner of Peel place. They virtually blocked the pavement. I am surprised the shop owner didnt say something - but then again, if you do say something, will the shop be subject to reprisals.

I did wonder where the local PCSO was. But then i cant actually remember seeing one for ages. Do we still have one.

Maybe the lads where there to annoy Matt, as a protest over the Burley parish response to the request for £16,000 for a skateboarding ramp.

Maybe I am just getting old, but i thought that pavements were for walking on.

And before somebody says they've got nowhere else to go - Well thats tough, dont do it.

If the parish council made a decision on this, it must have been at the meeting I missed (the joy of childcare!), but I do know the parish council doesn't have £16k hanging around waiting for a purpose.

However, I did note the item at the forum and will get in touch to see if there is some way funds can be found - though £16k is really a stretch!

So do what the folk in Otley did. Bring in Local Radio/TV, find someone with more brass than they know what to do with, it really erks me when folk go negative where our young folk are concerned.

Don't forget you were young once.
