Came across this item of Burley history on the Ilkley Gusset web site regarding pauper kiddies imported from London to work in the Greenholme Mills.

I guess there was some tragedy attached to this, but at least these kids got an education whilst others of their generation didn't and I guess the Burley gene pool benefitted too.

Forstor was behind the education act, by the standards of the times, he was truly philanthropic.
