Has anyone seen/photographed the pack ice down at the Cromwheel basin?
I gather last time this happened was back in 1963 unless you know different.....

Where is the "Cromwheel Basin" on the River Wharfe?
"Seb-Smythe" can you (or someone else) mark it on this map: http://tiny.cc/Greenholme_Mills - alternatively PM me the details & I will.

The Crumwheel is on the sharpish corner near the Ilkley Bathing pool, the footbridge actually crosses it I do believe.

I've updated the map - http://tiny.cc/Greenholme_Mills - if I've put the marker in the wrong place, I'm sure somebody will tell me!
Is it "Crumwheel" or "Cromwheel"?

Crum/Crom depends which books you look in.

Prior to Ilkley UDC dumping a few hundred tons of shingle up river from the basin there used to be an ice wheel forming of a winter. I'll find some pics of it for the gallery.
