Thats wonderfull news & the team that worked tirelesly deserve a round of applause.
The thing now is that when this Fibre Optics has been installed into the Burley exchange what will it cost to us if anything to get it out to the poles & boxes & then hence to the houses, or will that be done automatically at a further date.

If they open it up to LLU providers like in other areas, which I presume they would be. Then with talk talk the costs are:
£12.60 line rental
£6.70 - Essentials package (free evening and weekend calls and free ADSL2+ broadband)
£10 - Fibre Optic broadband bolt on.
Not sure on BT's prices, probably on their website.

The latest update from BT, via the iBurley campaign team, is that the planning for the rollout in Burley is now complete. The civil works will commence in October with a planned completion in Feb 2012.
As a direct result of the iBurley campaign, Otley and Ilkley are getting the infrastructure too, and Burley is being fed from Otley... we estimate that this means we got up to £5million of investment by BT into the Wharfe Valley - not bad going!

As for Ilkley and Otley... They are lucky to have such good neighbours.... But Burley always does punch above its weight

BT's site still saying exchange won't be ready until June 2012 so I'm desperately hoping your information is better that BT's Malcolm
Also interestingly, over the last couple of weeks I've received two calls from TalkTalk trying to lock me into my current contract for 18 months (with some associated discounts) - which might imply they're getting nervous about BT Infinity's impending arrival and also that they're not planning to piggy back onto the same fibre connection

There will in effect be 2 systems in the Burley Exchange area -
1. The existing infrastructure that uses the Burley Exchange. Broadband speeds will remain as you have them at the moment from whichever broadband provider you currently use.
2. The new superfast broadband infrastructure (that by-passes the Burley Exchange & comes via Otley exchange).
People will need to sign up to this infrastructure/service to get the increase in broadband speeds.
The only known provider currently (as of Jan 2012) is BT Infinity.
But Ofcom has ensured that other providers such as TalkTalk, Sky etc will have the opportunity to offer superfast broadband over the new network when it comes on stream.
