How needed is a breakfast club that runs from 730am so parents can actually get to work, an after school club that finishes at 630pm to give parents the chance to leave work, and a summer club on the doorstep, so parents do not have to travel and spend a fortune to have childcare provided in school holidays - right in the centre of Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Would love to hear opinions on this please?

Cheers

Not needed now as my child is at grammar school. But I would of used a club like this when she was at primary. It was a nightmare trying to sort out people to pick her up from the after school club until I got back as it only opened till 5pm (or 5.30pm) And I didn't finish work till 5.30pm! As I'm sure most others don't.

Im sure if you opened a club up with these hours it would be well used!

What sort of age group would the summer club be open for?
I'm actually quite pleasant............ until I'm awake.

I'd love one !

Burley Woodhead (and I'm sure Oaks too) provide a very good before and after school but it runs 7:50am to 5:30pm which is somewhat limiting on the working day, particularly if you have a bit to travel.

It can also be quite tough when, for example, trains are cancelled or delayed and you do not have much slack in the timing.

There was some sort of a survey doing the rounds a while ago via the nurseries etc and I think it went to Bradford Council but not heard anything recently.

For my input, for it to work, it would have to:-
  • Start suitably early / finish late. To allow catching the 0748 train in the morning and the 1802 (arriving 1820) would be a great improvement as the times suggested would allow - dependent on location.

  • Link in with the care already provided by the schools - it is obviously of no value if you still have to arrange transfer either to / from school before / after school club or straight to school.

  • Provide breakfast / snack.

  • Accept childcare vouchers as payment.

  • Offer flexibility in booking arrangements.

  • Cater for holiday periods.
