I noted yesterday while passing the former Spooner site on Railway Road in Ilkley demolition is well underway. We have yet to see how this will make it's mark on outlying villages. But it does make one wonder in whose pocket certain folk have a hand. Otley have a new supermarket, Netto moved to larger premises, Tesco are on the move and large housing schemes are proposed for the valley. It can't be coincidence and if it is then I'd like to know the owner of said pocket.

There are soon to be views from Railway Road last seen before the Works were built. I wonder how many thought to photograph the former buildings before demolition? Perhaps some might do as I will by photgraphing those views we will never see again for many years.

It may be worth photographing a lot of the local stores, green space, etc. Because they will be consigned to the history books next.

As for pockets - well who stands to gain the most ? I think its called local politics

A very good suggestion. If they do get built on you have record of that which you have lost. If they are proposed sites you have something to show what will be lost. Most importantly though they could show things which have been long overlooked by all manner of folk and need attention. Don't just limit yourselves to views. Look at everything including the gutters and drain covers, the boggy bits in the middle of fields, where hedges are or were. Mature trees look better on photographs than TPO maps or the back of a lumber wagon.
