Hi everyone,

I am a former resident of 13 Booth St. Burley and am intrigued by the plaque which is attached to the "front" of number 13 (presumably referring the whole row).

It reads:

ERECTED AD 1880 BY THE INDEPENDENT ORDER OF THE PEACFUL DOVE SOCIETY No 1

I have tried the net for information to no avail.

Anyone any ideas??

Stephen Whitehead.

That should be in the Deeds of anyone who owns property in Booth Street.

I think you'll find that the Peaceful Dove was a friendly society - the forerunner of the mutual building society.
