didn't someone say that's what the Malt was going to be? Couldn't see it myself at the time - definitely not going to happen now - so what is going on at the Malt?

Now that is the question. I can't see it being a Wetherby Whaler when it would be competing with the flagship restaurant.

I have heard a developer has got it for housing/ flats conversion. Tesco purchased it then realised there were public rights of way and access rights for various farm properties that prevented it from becomming a store conversion.

Whats happening to Burley house. Its been "SOLD" without any real signs of life for a while now. Just extensive scaffolder work on it.

I note from the article that "The Wetherby Whaler group is planning a £500,000 refurbishment of the site to add it to its chain of outlets".

Went passed the site today - talk about a hive of activity - looks like they're gutting it & completely revamping both the interior, exterior & car park areas.

I wonder how long it will be before Harry's is open again?

There's a nice touch on the new Wetherby Whaler - alongside all their own branding, they've retained the "Harry Ramsden" clock face. So you can still tell the time by Harry's!!

Are they definitely retaining this feature or have they just not got round to changing this yet?

I would think they're retaining it. The builders had plenty of opportunities to remove it when they had all the scaffolding up.

There will also be two ladies who walked all the way from Horsforth to get cheap fish and chips when they did the anniversary celebration
in 1952. They did it again some time in the 80's I seem to remember, fish and chips for about six pence a shot. There was a queu right
around the block.

I was there with my future wife & mother in law when they were having the event & the queue's were nigh on endless, even the BBC television were there.
I seem to recall that the price was 2 pence for a fish & one penny for a portion of chips, so we decided to vist a neighbouring chippie just a few doors away & paid an outstanding price for some which I seem to recall was a lot more than normal price hence no queue's.
